THE STAR OF NO TV WEEK 2004

..was Shermy!! Shermy is a corn snake owned by a very special friend of the church web master. Shermy again answered his special calling wonderfully, this time at the Thompson School in Arlington, MA, a partner of Calvary Church United Methodist for No TV Week 2004. Shermy was presented at the Thompson school on Friday, May 7, 2004 because the school children voted to have the principal pet a snake at the end of No TV Week instead of having his hair dyed (although Rev. John's hair was dyed for the occasion) or instead of a pie eating contest. Several other members of Calvary Church, United Methodist were also present. A special assembly was called with all the teachers and school children reporting to the auditorium to see Shermy. Shermy was very popular with the school children and several of the teachers and the principal had the special privilege of holding and petting Shermy. Again, Shermy was not asked to play shepherd!!!

The principal and several of the church members and school children went to a potluck supper at Calvary in the evening.
