The above photos of the solar halo of September 9, 2013 were taken just one day after the conjunction of the Moon and Venus. I took these photos after about 6:00 PM of apparent sun dogs on both sides of the Sun with my smartphone camera while returning home from the movies in Hingham, MA. This was about seven or so hours after I photographed the solar halo from Quincy, MA. The clouds thickened somewhat during the afternoon then thinned again enough for these photos.

Photos of a circumzenithal arc taken November 4, 2013. I took these photos of a rainbow looking somewhat below the zenith from Quincy, MA at about 3:25-3:30 PM that day. Sunset was at 4:33 PM according to my Weather Channel app on my smartphone. It is the first time I ever remember seeing this type of rainbow. I therefore did some on-line research into this and I think this article is relevant.
